Welcome to Sanctuary Sunday, the day in our week that brings peace to the home, the heart, the body, the mind, and the week ahead.
This is my third episode in my 30-day podcasting challenge, and today, we are shifting the focus inward.
When life gets overwhelming, it can feel impossible to make time for yourself. Your nervous system is crying out for rest, and the first thing that usually goes is organization.
You heard that right. Your internal stress often shows up on the outside. Your body simply does not have the energy to do it all β especially if you have ADHD, where organization is already a challenge.
The chaos on the inside often creates chaos on the outside. And that outer chaos drains your sense of peace even more.
But Sanctuary Sunday is not about cleaning or getting organized.
It is about caring for you.
It is about giving your body and your nervous system one tiny moment to relax.
So today, I want to ask you one simple question:
What is one small thing your body needs today?
Nothing big.
Nothing that feels like work.
Just a tiny act of care that loosens some of the tension in your body, gives your mind a break, and helps you come back to yourself.
This is where my Spark Cycle comes in. And today, we are using it for self-care.
Step One: The Spark
The spark is one tiny act of self-care.
Choose the smallest thing that helps your body release even a little tension or gives your mind a little rest.
For example:
β’ take one slow, deep breath
β’ roll your shoulders back
β’ stretch your arm overhead
β’ take a one-minute walk
β’ sip a warm or cold drink
β’ listen to your favorite song
β’ dance to your favorite song
β’ do one jumping jack, or any movement that brings you peace
These are tiny on purpose.
Tiny is enough.
Step Two: The Tiny Triumph
Pause for a moment.
Acknowledge and celebrate what you just did.
You can say, βI did that.β
You can smile.
You can shimmy.
You can dance.
You can give yourself a high-five or a pat on the back.
However you want to celebrate your tiny triumph is perfect.
The celebration does not have to be big.
It just has to be you.
You might think it sounds silly, but I can testify to the positive impact. Even celebrating my tiniest triumphs has changed my life.
Something as simple as putting a dish in the dishwasher when I do not feel like it β saying βI did thatβ and doing a little celebration dance β gets me every time.
It makes me feel so good.
Step Three: The Momentum
The more you celebrate yourself, the more you want to celebrate yourself.
That creates more sparks.
More sparks create more tiny triumphs.
And that keeps your momentum going.
So maybe after taking a deep breath, you celebrate your tiny triumph and it feels so good that you want to do a second tiny thing.
Maybe another breath.
Maybe another stretch.
Maybe another moment dancing to your favorite song.
Or maybe β just maybe β one spark is all you need today.
And that is more than enough.
Your sanctuary is not created through effort.
Your sanctuary is created by listening to what your body needs and gently taking care of yourself.
Your body is your first home.
And I hope today brought a little peace to your home, your heart, your mind, your body, and your week ahead β one tiny act of care at a time.
