Happy Faith Friday, everyone.
Welcome to Day Eight of my podcasting and posting challenge.

I’m really glad you’re here.
My hope is that today gives you something you can hold onto this weekend, something encouraging and something that reminds you that you are not walking through life alone.

A Quick Story

Not too long ago, we went through a government shutdown.
 It lasted about forty days.

There was a real chance my paycheck would not come on time.
Normally, that would have stressed me out.
 A lot.

But this time… something felt different.
 I had peace.
 Real peace.
 And it surprised me.

Back in September, I felt God nudging me to tithe from my regular income and from my rental income for August and September.
With the shutdown coming, that didn’t make sense.
But I followed that nudge anyway.

Even with everything happening around me, I felt a calm, steady trust.

The Drowning Man Story

My friends were worried for me.
They kept saying, “Apply for this. Apply for that.”

And I did check because I didn’t want to be like the man from that famous story:

A man is stuck in rising flood waters.
 A rowboat comes.
He says, “No thanks. God will save me.”

A motorboat comes.
He says the same thing.

A helicopter arrives.
He refuses that too.

He drowns.
 Gets to heaven.
And asks God, “Why didn’t You save me?”

God says, “I sent you two boats and a helicopter.”

I didn’t want to miss help that God might have been sending.
So I applied for what was available.
But every single time, the door gently closed.

It felt like God saying, “I’ve got you. Let Me take care of you.”

And He did.
My pay came late… but still before any of my bills went out.

What That Taught Me

Here’s the part that stuck with me:

Following Jesus doesn’t mean hard things stop happening.
It means we walk through them differently with Him.

In John 16:33 (NLT), Jesus says:
“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.
But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

The shutdown happened.
God didn’t stop it.
But He gave me peace that I could not have created on my own.

And in John 14:27 (NLT), Jesus says:
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart.
And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.
So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

That peace is real.
And it’s available even when your situation doesn’t feel stable.

Faith Friday Takeaway

Here’s your simple takeaway for today:

You don’t need perfect circumstances to experience peace.
God’s peace shows up in the middle of uncertainty, not after things settle down.

If you’re carrying something heavy

 • finances
 • overwhelm
 • doubt
 • responsibilities

you don’t have to carry it alone.

Reflection Moment

Before we close, I want to give you a moment to reflect.

My story is just one example of how God brings peace right in the middle of something uncertain.
But now I want to turn it toward you.

Ask yourself:

• Where do I feel the water rising?
 • Where am I waiting for rescue, but maybe missing the boats and helicopters God is already sending?
 • Where do I need peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances changing first?

It might be money.
It might be health.
It might be decisions, stress, or something you’ve been holding on your own.

Wherever it is… pause.
Take a deep breath.
And ask:
“What would it look like to trust God with one thing today?”

Not the whole situation.
Just one thing.
Just today.

And remember Matthew 11:28 (NLT):
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.”

That rest is available.
That peace is available.
You don’t have to earn it or figure everything out.
You just have to come.

Closing

As you head into the rest of your Faith Friday, I hope you feel a little lighter…
a little more grounded…
and a little more aware that God is walking with you in whatever you are facing.

Thank you for being here for Day Eight of this challenge.
I hope today brings you peace, clarity, and a reminder that you’re not alone.

Have a hope-filled weekend.
See you tomorrow.
