Welcome to Sanctuary Sunday, the part of our week where we slow down and come back to peace.
Peace in the home, the heart, the body, the mind, and the week ahead.

This is day 10 of my 30-day podcasting posting challenge, and today’s episode is for anyone who feels a little tired after the past few days, even if your Thanksgiving itself was peaceful.

This weekend wasn’t about the big Thanksgiving to-do.
I didn’t travel.
I didn’t host a big gathering.
I shared a calm dinner with my tenant, and it was restful.

But the drain came from everything wrapped around the holiday.

Even though my Thanksgiving was quiet, my brain was working overtime:

• sorting through what I’m ready to let go of
• rethinking my wardrobe
• figuring out how I want to show up in this new season of my life
• looking at Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals
• researching tools and supplies for my organizing business
• comparing prices
• evaluating what I truly needed

And even though all of that happened online, it required a lot of emotional and mental energy, because these aren’t small decisions. These are decisions connected to a major transition in my life.

Why all this prep matters so much

Starting January 16th, I will be a full-time professional organizer and an ADHD life coach.
So everything I’m choosing now, my wardrobe, my tools, my business supplies, all of it connects to the next chapter I’m stepping into.

And honestly, this weekend was the smartest time to do it.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday meant I could get phenomenal deals on items I would eventually need anyway. I wasn’t just spending money. I was investing wisely, saving hundreds of dollars by buying things at a discount now instead of paying full price later.

But getting those deals takes time, hours of research, comparing brands, checking reviews, making sure each purchase truly makes sense, and choosing things that align with my business and my professional image.

Researching is something my brain loves, but it still pulls from my mental energy.
And because clothes shopping is not one of my strengths, figuring out what fits me, what feels comfortable, and what represents how I want to show up took even more effort.

So yes — it was a lot.

The ADHD twist: sleep dysregulation

On top of all of this, the hyperfocus was real.

I ended up staying up until four, five, sometimes seven o’clock in the morning.
Then I slept during the day, and daytime sleep never hits the same.

Even though I technically had days off, I didn’t feel rested.
 My circadian rhythm was off.
 My energy felt low.
 And my productivity tanked.

Not because I wasn’t trying, but because my system was dysregulated.

My system just didn’t function the way it normally does because my routines were completely off, like not going to bed at a reasonable time.

When sleep is off, everything is off.
And this week, my sleep was definitely off.

The unexpected joy in letting go

One thing that made the decluttering easier was knowing where my items are going.

Even though I can’t donate large amounts of money right now — not with business expenses and wardrobe updates, I can donate items that will truly bless someone else. And that brings me a lot of joy.

Letting go becomes lighter when you know someone else will be supported by what you release.
It turns decluttering into generosity.
It turns release into care.
It becomes part of my sanctuary.

What today looked like for me

After church, I had big plans for the day:

• organizing classes
• cleaning up my space
• business work
• decluttering
• planning for the week

But my body said, “Nope. Not today.”

I took a nap.
I rested.
I listened to my body — and that was my sanctuary.

Yes, in a perfect world, I would complete more organizing classes and get ahead on projects.
But the most important thing I can do is take care of myself.

Rest is not falling behind.
Rest is part of the process.

And actually, I did get to do a bathroom reset with some of the items I purchased, so that was a tiny win.

Your body knows when to slow down.
Your nervous system always speaks, through fog, exhaustion, irritability, or lack of focus.
And when you honor those signals, you give yourself the space to breathe and reset.

Sanctuary Sunday is about peace, not productivity.
Presence, not pressure.

Here’s your reframe for today

Give yourself permission to rest even when things are not done.
Give yourself permission to slow down after several days of decisions.
Give yourself permission to choose calm over hustle.

Recovery is not optional.
Recovery is necessary.

Your one-tiny-sanctuary question

What is one small thing your body needs right now?

Not your to-do list.
Not what your home needs.
Not what the week needs.

Just one tiny thing your body is asking for.

It might be a breath, stillness, movement, warmth, quiet, a moment outside, or maybe a short rest.

Whatever comes to mind first is usually the thing that will help your nervous system settle.
Let your body answer, not the pressure, not the shoulds.

Reflection moment

Before we close, take a moment to check in with yourself:

• What felt heavy this week?
• What drained my energy more than I expected?
• What brought me a moment of peace, even a small one?
• What does my body need more of right now — rest, support, or gentleness?

There are no wrong answers.
This is simply your moment to reconnect with yourself.

Closing

Thank you for joining me for Sanctuary Sunday and day 10 of this challenge.

If your sleep has been off…
If your mind has been full…
If your weekend came with more decisions than rest…
If your body needed slowing down…

You are not behind.
You are human.
You are honoring your energy, and that counts.

I hope today brings peace to your home, your heart, your mind, your body, and your week ahead.

See you tomorrow.
